Eric Reid took a knee during the national anthem ceremony at Bank of America stadium before the game today. No other players joined him. He was not protesting the anthem and he was not violating NFL rules. He won’t be taking a knee on the field during the game.Reid is protesting inequality and racial injustice in the United States. He is doing so in a way that he believes shows respect for the military. He is Imagedoing so nonviolently. He is not protesting in a way or at a time that affects his responsibilities to the Carolina Panthers. Reid’s own words from last year are incredibly clear on this:This is a place where you can talk about his protest. Please Mike Adams Jersey , do so. Please also keep in mind his own words and not words anybody else has put in his mouth. Read his op-ed in the New York Times linked above. Read his twitter feed. We will update this story after the game to reflect any new statements Reid makes on the subject. And please, most of all, try to be as respectful here as Reid is trying to be with his actions.Update: Eric Reid spoke to the media after the game about his decision to continue his protests this season. Head coach Ron Rivera was also asked about Reid’s choice and Rivera declined to say anything more than that he was not there “to discuss a guy exercising his first amendment right.”Panthers 2018 season opener countdown: 56 days to go We are 56 days away from the beginning of the Carolina Panthers 2018 season. That means today we take a closer look at linebacker Jermaine Carter.Jermaine Carter http://www.pantherscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-greg-van-roten-jersey , LinebackerBioHeight: 6’0”Weight: 225 lbsAge: 23College: MarylandNFL Experience: RookieJermaine Carter is the most recent in a series of linebackers that the Panthers have drafted in the 5th round. He follows in the successful — as far as 5th round picks go — footsteps of AJ Klein and David Mayo. Klein earned a contract with the New Orleans Saints in free agency last year and Mayo, who will be profiled in this space tomorrow, has grown into an excellent depth and special teams player. The fifth round isn’t usually a draft position that carries expectations C.J. Anderson Jersey , but Carter managed to get selected by the one team, at the one position, where that isn’t necessarily true. Carter was a team captain at Maryland and received multiple honorable mentionsfor the All-Big Ten team during his college career. In Marty Hurney’s words Wes Horton Jersey , Carter is a “leader” and a “very instinctive” football player. For more on Carter, look for our draft profile series beginning this week where we will be interviewing the SB Nation blogs covering each of the Panthers draft picks’ Alma Maters to get the inside scoop on what it’s like to be a fan of these new guys.
